What to Send After Cyber Monday: The Second-Purchase Plan
After Cyber Monday, send the sale extension, a thank-you with shipping cutoffs, a reworked post-purchase flow, gift card emails, then a January win-back for BFCM-only buyers.
Sorted Agency·October 6, 2026·8 min read
What to send after Black Friday and Cyber Monday: a sale extension on Dec 1, final hours on Dec 2, a thank-you with shipping cutoffs on Dec 4, then a second-purchase sequence for every new BFCM buyer. Add gift card sends after the carrier deadlines, and a January win-back for people who bought only on the sale.
This plan picks up where our BFCM email calendar for 2026 ends. Sends 10 to 13 are the last four calendar sends. Everything after Dec 4 is post-BFCM.

Adjust the Dec 14 and Dec 17 dates to your carrier and fulfillment speed. The section on shipping cutoffs explains how.
Should you extend your Black Friday sale?
Extend it once, and say so plainly. Send #11 goes out Tue Dec 1 with a clear new deadline. Send #12 on Wed Dec 2 is the final-hours email. After that, the sale is over. Do not extend a second time.
Send both only to profiles who have not bought since Black Friday. Your buyers already paid the sale price. An "extended" email to them reads like a reason to regret buying early.
Copy guidance for #11: lead with the reason ("Shipping backed up our warehouse, so we're giving you 48 more hours") only if it is true. If there is no reason, skip it and state the new end time. For #12, put the end time in the subject line, the preheader and the hero.
Giving Tuesday, send #10, goes out the same day. Keep it separate from the sale. It works best as a donation match or a cause your brand already supports, with no extra discount.
What should the thank-you and shipping cutoff email say?
Send #13 goes out Fri Dec 4. It does two jobs: thank the people who bought, and give everyone the real date to order for delivery by Christmas.
Alaska, Hawaii and US territories have earlier dates. Check UPS and FedEx directly on their holiday pages for the services you use. FedEx publishes a 2026 last day to ship guide.
Your customer-facing cutoff is not the carrier date. Subtract your pick-and-pack time. If your warehouse takes 2 business days to ship, your "order by" date for Ground Advantage is Tue Dec 15, not Dec 17.
How should you change your post-purchase flow for BFCM buyers?
Your normal post-purchase flow was built for normal volume and full-price buyers. BFCM brings a wave of first-time, discount-led customers. Adjust the flow before Nov 26, then leave it running through January. Our Klaviyo post-purchase flow guide covers the full build.
Four changes we recommend:
Split first-time buyers. Klaviyo's post-purchase flow guide uses a conditional split on Placed Order equals 1 over all time. First-time BFCM buyers get onboarding. Repeat buyers get a shorter thank-you.
Stretch the delays. Check your own December delivery times before you set delays. We recommend pushing review asks back a week, so the request lands after the package does.
Hold the cross-sell. A buyer who got 30% off on Black Friday will not want a full-price cross-sell 3 days later. Delay it until the product is in use.
Check Smart Sending.Smart Sending defaults to 16 hours for email. Decide whether flows or holiday campaigns win when both want the same inbox.
When should you ask a BFCM buyer for a second purchase?
Ask once the first product has been used. Usage creates the reason to buy again. For a BFCM order, a sensible starting point is late December or early January.
Base the timing on your data. Klaviyo's predictive analytics gives each customer an expected date of next order and an average time between orders. You need at least 500 customers with orders, 180 days of order history, orders in the last 30 days, and some customers with 3 or more orders.
If you qualify, build a segment of BFCM buyers whose expected next order falls in the next 14 days. Send them a replenishment or "complete the set" email. If you do not qualify, use your median days between first and second order from a Shopify or Klaviyo export, and time the Jan 5 send to it.
Lead the Jan 5 email with education: how to use the product, what results to expect, what pairs with it. Save the offer for Jan 12.
Which gift card and last-minute emails work after the shipping cutoff?
Once standard shipping closes, gift cards become your product. A digital gift card arrives instantly, so it removes the delivery problem entirely.
Run two sends. Sat Dec 19 announces gift cards to everyone who has not bought since Dec 1. Wed Dec 23 is the last-minute email, sent to people who opened or clicked in December.

Then follow up on Sat Dec 26. Gift card recipients are new customers who have not chosen a product yet. Send them a bestseller list and a link to your returns policy. How do you win back BFCM-only buyers in January?
A BFCM-only buyer is someone whose only order came between Nov 26 and Dec 2, 2026. By mid-January, the ones who have not ordered again are at risk of being one-time customers.
Build the segment in Klaviyo with three conditions: placed order at least once between your BFCM dates, placed order zero times since Dec 3, and can receive email marketing. If you sync returns or refunds into Klaviyo, exclude those profiles too.
Send two emails. Tue Jan 12 makes an offer. Fri Jan 15 is the last chance, sent only to people who opened the first one. For the full flow logic, our Klaviyo win-back flow guide covers timing and offers by segment.
On the offer: we recommend a smaller discount than BFCM. A free gift or free shipping on the second order works without resetting the price people expect. Klaviyo's 2025 data showed brands with the smallest discounts grew fastest over BFCM, at 14%. For how this period performed last year, see our BFCM email benchmarks for 2025.

Send a sale extension on Tue Dec 1 and a final-hours email on Wed Dec 2, both to non-buyers only. Then send a thank-you with your holiday shipping cutoff on Fri Dec 4. After that, focus on BFCM buyers: onboarding in the post-purchase flow, a second-purchase email in early January, and a win-back mid-January.
Should I email customers who bought on Black Friday?
Yes, but not with more sale emails. Exclude BFCM buyers from the sale extension and final-hours sends. Give them a thank-you, onboarding that helps them use the product, and a second-purchase email once the product is in use. Klaviyo reported repeat-customer revenue grew 13.5% over BFCM 2025, so this group is worth protecting.
What are the 2026 holiday shipping deadlines?
USPS recommends shipping by Thu Dec 17 for Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail, Fri Dec 18 for Priority Mail and Sat Dec 19 for Priority Mail Express, for delivery by Dec 25 in the contiguous US. Check FedEx and UPS directly, and subtract your own fulfillment time before you email a cutoff date.
When should I send a win-back to BFCM buyers?
We recommend mid-January: an offer on Tue Jan 12, 2027 and a last-chance email on Fri Jan 15. That gives buyers about six weeks to use the product and reorder on their own first. If Klaviyo predictive analytics is available to you, time it to each buyer's expected date of next order instead.
Should I extend my Cyber Monday sale?
Extend it once, for 24 to 48 hours, with a firm end time. Send the extension on Tue Dec 1 and the final-hours email on Wed Dec 2, only to people who have not bought since Black Friday. A second extension teaches your list that deadlines are not real, which weakens every sale after it.
